Residential Range Warranty

This limited warranty applies to the residential range of roller, sectional and specialty doors, openers and related parts and services supplied by Windsor Doors Ltd (“Windsor Doors”).

Windsor Doors prides itself on the quality of its products and services.

  1. What is covered by this Warranty
    1. Subject to the limitations and qualifications set out in clause 6:
      1. Door components & workmanship: Windsor Doors warrants that the workmanship and components of doors other than Colorsteel® Doors will be free from defects for 2 years from the date of purchase from Windsor Doors.
      2. Colorsteel® Doors: Windsor Doors warrants that the workmanship and components of Colorsteel® Doors will be free from defects for 10 years from the date of purchase from Windsor Doors.
      3. UniCote® LUX surface coating: Windsor Doors warrants that UniCote® LUX door surface coating will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for 3 years from the date of installation of the door.
      4. Powdercoat finishes: Windsor Doors warrants powdercoat finishes on Zincalume pre-primed steel for 3 years.
      5. Windsor Doors branded openers: Windsor Doors warrants that:
        1. SD1000 Std sectional door openers will be free from defects for 5 years;
        2. SD1000 Pro sectional door openers will be free from defects for 7 years;
        3. Multi Drive 1500 Pro sectional door openers will be free from defects for 7 years;
        4. RD1000 Std roller door openers will be free from defects for 5 years;
        5. RD1000 Pro roller door openers will be free from defects for 7 years; and
        6. RD1500 Pro roller door openers will be free from defects for 3 years or 15,000 cycles (whichever first occurs),

        from the date of purchase from Windsor Doors.

      6. Keys & lock barrels: Windsor Doors warrants that keys and lock barrels will be free from defects for 1 year from the date of purchase from Windsor Doors.
      7. Springs: Windsor Doors warrants that door springs will maintain sufficient tension for proper door operation for 1 year from the date of purchase from Windsor Doors.
      8. Installation services: Windsor Doors warrants that installation services will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for 1 year from the date of completion.
      9. Repair, service & warranty work: Windsor Doors warrants that repair, service and warranty work carried out by Windsor Doors or an approved service partner will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for 3 months from the date of completion.
  2. Oil-canning (information)
    1. Undulations or distortions (known as oil-canning) associated with the manufacturing process and surface reflectivity of metal cladding may from time to time be visible – depending on factors including viewing angle, ambient temperature and lighting conditions.
    2. An acceptable level of oil-canning is not a defect. The Australian Garage Door Association considers that an acceptable level of oil-canning is where the distortion over any 150mm distance is not greater than 1mm.

  3. Operating noises (information)
    1. It is normal for your door, especially if a larger door, to produce operating noises including creaking when opened and closed due to the movement of its components.
    2. Regular cleaning and lubrication of components (including guides, roller wheels and bearer plates) is essential for minimising operating noises and should only be carried out by Windsor Doors or an approved service partner to ensure the door is thoroughly serviced using only quality approved products.
    3. Non-approved lubricants can impede door operation and accelerate wear by providing inadequate lubrication or promoting particulate accumulation.

  4. Curtain deflection (information)
    1. When closed, the curtain of roller doors may exhibit a degree of graduating deflection from the lintel of the opening, where the curtain lays inward from the top of the side guides to the drum.  Curtain deflection is not a defect and is more pronounced in larger doors.  To minimise the visual impact of curtain deflection, roller doors should be installed at the recommended height to facilitate concealment by the lintel of deflecting curtain.
  5. Door cleaning (information)
    1. As set out below, this warranty does not cover corrosion or surface coating degradation due to causes or effects beyond the reasonable control of Windsor Doors, including failure to remove grime, chemicals and atmospheric pollutants. To preserve finishes and limit build-up of compounds that may initiate corrosion, regular washing of the exterior of doors in accordance with the Maintenance Recommendations of Colorsteel® is advised.
  6. Limitations and qualifications
    1. Subject to Windsor Doors obligations under applicable laws which cannot be excluded, modified or restricted:
      1. Windsor Doors liability:
        1. shall be limited at its option to one of the following:
          1. repair of defective products; or
          2. replacement of defective products with the same products; or
          3. replacement of defective products with equivalent products; or
          4. providing services again or rectifying services; or
          5. refunding the price of defective products or services.
        2. shall not include or extend to:
          1. reimbursement of any expense or outlay (including any expense or outlay to remove, transport, repair or replace products) not incurred or made with the prior written consent of Windsor Doors.
          2. injury to persons, damage to property, loss of income, profit or business (or any other indirect loss) arising from or caused in any way by its products or services.
          3. removal of goods or structures obstructing or preventing (in the opinion of Windsor Doors) the repair or replacement of defective products or the provision or rectification of services.
      2. This warranty does not cover corrosion, denting, scratches, perforation, surface coating degradation, mechanical failure, structural failure or collapse wholly or partly due to causes, effects or events beyond the reasonable control of Windsor Doors, including without limitation:
        1. mechanical, chemical or other damage sustained during transport, handling, storage or installation by others.
        2. improper or defective installation by others.
        3. use of third-party accessories.
        4. installation within 300 metres of the sea or other body of water of equivalent or greater salt concentration.
        5. installation within an unusually corrosive environment or an area subject to industrial fall out.
        6. attack from fumes, chemicals (including cleaning chemicals) or other agents (including sunscreen).
        7. contact with soil, ash, fertilizer or moisture retaining substances.
        8. liquid from copper flashings or pipes or green or wet timber/ply or treated timber.
        9. failure to remove grime, chemicals and atmospheric pollutants.
        10. damage by persons, vehicles or animals.
        11. subsidence or foundation movement.
        12. deterioration of building elements.
        13. gales, tornadoes, lightning, hail, earthquakes, fires, flood and other similarly extreme "acts of God".
        14. wind load greater than the ultimate limit state capacity of a wind rated product.
        15. bushfire conditions beyond the rated protection of a product.
      3. This warranty does not cover nor extend to:
        1. doors installed other than in a detached house or townhouse.
        2. installation services supplied by approved or authorised distributors.
        3. damage to products not notified to Windsor Doors within 2 business days of:
          1. collection or delivery; or
          2. installation by Windsor Doors.
        4. deterioration in the condition of products occurring between collection or delivery and installation.
        5. inherent defects in steel or other materials used in the manufacturing process.
        6. variation in the colour, appearance or grain of timber components.
        7. cosmetic or functional deterioration due to:
          1. wear and tear;
          2. exposure to the elements; or
          3. atmospheric pollutants, including salt spray.
        8. discoloration or fading of coated surfaces.
        9. batteries, fuses or globes.
        10. damage to electrical or electronic components from:
          1. electrical surge or brownout; or
          2. exposure to liquid or moisture.
        11. opener transmitter or receiver range.
        12. sensitivity or limit switch adjustment.
        13. pitting, rust or corrosion notified outside the warranty periods provided in clause 1.1.
        14. deflection of door curtain.
        15. oil-canning where the distortion over any 150mm distance is not greater than 1mm.
        16. operating noises.
        17. micro-fracturing of paint surface imperceptible in daylight from a normal viewing position.
        18. differences of appearance or defects in coated surfaces not clearly discernible from a normal viewing position.
        19. rubbing or scuff marks imperceptible in daylight from a normal viewing position.
        20. customer requested surface coatings applied by others.
        21. rubbed or scuffed coated surfaces.
        22. weakening or collapse of structures to which products are affixed.
        23. repair, reinstatement or replacement of building elements including:
          1. timber, gyprock, masonry and render;
          2. penetrations; and
          3. painted surfaces.
        24. defects, damage or deterioration attributable to:
          1. the operation of products known to be defective; or
          2. failure to carry out preventative maintenance or adjustment.
      4. This warranty:
        1. is invalidated by:
          1. failure to have warranted products serviced at least annually by Windsor Doors or an approved service partner.
          2. the application of post paint treatments or systems (including rust treatments) other than to painted or stained surfaces.
          3. use of a product for an application or purpose for which it is unsuited.
          4. modification or alteration of products other than by Windsor Doors.
        2. is subject to payment having been made in full for products and services.
    2. To the extent permitted by law, this warranty excludes all other warranties, conditions, offers, promises or assurances, whether express or implied.
  7. How to initiate a warranty claim
